THE PROJECT!
For a quick overview of levels of finish you can choose from as a starting point, please see 'Just Wanna Pick a Level?'. For a more detailed, bespoke approach, please keep reading!
As I said on the main page I am just one guy and I don't have a big table of set in stone prices to view I'm afraid. If you've not commissioned a project before then it's necessary to say that prices involve a lot of factors... Assembly, conversion, magnets, decals, undercoat, paint and all manner of factors affect the time taken to do a project and so will also affect the price. We can certainly sort out ways of making something look really cool that's within a particular price range though, so things can be worked out to suit needs and wants
-
I do require a 50% initial payment before starting on the work and prefer to take payment via direct bank transfer.
-
Information you give me will be added to, 'Description of Project' on the invoice and the shipping cost (and any purchases of models you need me to buy) will be listed separately. It will all be in easy to read form and every part of the process will be transparent.
-
I will keep in touch with you and send progress photos and reports!
Heres a few things to consider when thinking about getting a project done:
RUSH JOB?
Do you need it all done particularly fast in time for a tournament or any other sorts of shenanigans?
WHAT EXACTLY WILL I BE WORKING ON?
What are the models, what weapons (and fashion accessories clearly) are needed? Different sizes and detail levels matter hugely, not their point value in game.
NUMBER OF MODELS?
How many of each type and the differences between the various squads or sub groups?
BUILD AND CLEAN?
Do you need me to build the models? (Including cleaning mould lines and standard things like that.) Doing this on a lot of modern models, cleanly, can take massive amounts of time these days.
MAGNETISE?
Are any magnets going to be used? This often involves drilling holes, cutting and making new joins. Also do you need other weapon options built and painted so you can swap them around?
CONVERSION?
Any small conversions using other plastic parts or big ones involving sculpting? Think about how much the extra parts will cost too.
BASING REQUIREMENTS?
Do you need them based and how elaborate a project do you want this part to become? This can be a whole chunk of project sometimes, for some people, so it's priced separately.
GENERAL STYLE INCLUDING BLEND SMOOTHNESS ETC?
This could also involve deciding whether you just want a simple, game worthy job done. This stuff is really important as people’s ideas of different 'levels' can vary. I really want you to know what to expect so I can exceed those expectations! It definitely has to be worked out before I go crazy spending hours on blended highlights or super-clean detail for up close looks!
FREEHAND WORK?
Ok this can be minor like some lettering or basic symbols. Extremely major work, like panels full of art and extensive banner work is almost another project in itself. In the future I hope to have examples of what I am capable of within this realm!
DECALS?
How much decal/transfer/water slidey art are we going to be sticking on? This often involves blending them in nicely and adding bits of damage etc on models painted for up close scrutiny.
VARNISHING?
Do you want them varnished? Matt, gloss or satin? I often push to not do much of this, especially on models for display, as it can really affect the look of varied materials.
COLLECTION OR SHIPPING?
It may sometimes be possible for us to meet and for the handover to not involve any other hands but our own! However if this is not possible, remember that shipping can be very expensive, particularly for large amounts of heavier models. You can also let me know if you want them put in anything in particular to fit with your own case collection!
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
When I send an invoice it will include the following.
AGREEMENT OF SCOPE OF WORK:
Work will be completed to the standard and specifications agreed above. (On the actual invoice there will be a fairly detailed description of the project and price to pay above this section. The stuff you told me about in the above section!)
PAYMENT TERMS:
The client will pay an initial payment of 50% of the total cost before work starts, plus any model kit costs and other items purchased at your request. On completion of the work, the client will pay the full sum owed, plus the shipping cost, before work is released for collection or shipping.
DELIVERY:
Postage will always be fully insured against the model kit price and labour involved. The client will pay for all delivery and packaging costs or collect the work in person. After the project has been shipped, I relinquish any responsibility for it. For example, I am not responsible for any damages due to courier mishandling.
CANCELLATION AND CHANGES:
Once the initial payment has been paid, work is underway. Any changes to the agreement can result in additional cost to the client. Any cancellation will result in charges for work done thus far before work can be released. Refusal to pay the full sum of the project will result in work not being delivered, possession remaining with the artist and possible resale via different markets.
DEADLINES:
Any changes requested may delay completion. Please keep this in mind if a deadline has been requested for project completion.
COPYRIGHT AND AUTHORSHIP CREDIT:
The client may not seek to mislead others that the work was done by anyone other the artist. Any damages or changes made will not be attributed to the artist. The client must properly identify the artist when asked. However the client does not have a proactive duty to display the artist’s name with the work.
SELF PROMOTION:
I reserve the right to reproduce, copy and display images of the work for promotion by any other means. I reserve the right to reproduce the techniques, colour schemes, shapes and extra sculpted details for other works.
